You know what?
I've passed by this restaurant many-a times and passed on it because it always seemed like the typical Fried Chicken and fish join that most black folks LOVE to patronize.
I almost stopped at Simply Thai today, but I have this weird phobia where if I don't see ANY black folks, I tend to get uncomfortable! And Simply Thai was crowded, but had ZERO black faces eating, so I opted to Pass.
Cathy's Kitchen was RIGHT next door and I could hear the sounds of Motown music blasting on the patio which was like a welcoming mat. When I went inside I saw a crowd of black families eating and laughing which warmed my heart.
The restaurant was full to capacity with the exception of a really small table up front right next to the door, so I took it. I had my work uniform on which draws a lot of attention to me and I find myself answering questions from random strangers about eye exams and glasses.
That's OK though....
Random strangers talking to me is the prime opportunity to market my blogs, businesses, and to pass out my business cards.
Since the restaurant was busy because there were a few parties going on, my wait was a little longer than anticipated. But that's OK because the staff was REALLY nice and accommodating.
Now lets get to the food...
I ordered a Philly Cheese steak sammich with fries. The food was pretty OK, there wasn't anything extraordinary about it, and they have those "textured french fries" which I don't particularly care for. But overall the food was good and the atmosphere was even better.
